Most network and cable shows are currently casting, but you have to be signed with an agent to have a shot. To get an agent you need lots of training and a pretty good resume of theatrical experience, student %26amp; indie films, etc. to even be considered. To do any of his you need your parents full support not to mention funding and transportation.

Depends on where you live. If its New York, try backstage.com. For me, it seems like shows are always auditioning, so you need to do some research.
Yeah, if you don't tell us where you are looking, it's kind of difficult for us to be a big help.

The monthly magazine Ross Reports is a must to know the latest projects.

Backstage West or East also has the latest projects casting.

Show Business Weekly also has an update.

Also if you look on some of the biggest and most informed casting web sites, you will get a glimpse of what is up and coming.

And the Hollywood Reporter will give you information about what is coming.

One of the best ways, however, is if you have an agent, who will always get the latest breakdowns (descriptions of what roles are being searched for, for what programs, films, commercials, etc. and the types of actors they are looking for.

Shaw Carpet Plush shows everything.?

I have had new carpet installed. (Shaw Queen plush) This carpet shows every line foot print and mark even the vacume lines. The carpet look like it needs to be stetched but it has been all ready. The taped seams are awful!

I have holes where the power stretcher was put to stretch the carpet. Has anyone else here had simular problems with their carpet install?

Footprints and vacuum marks are normal for plush carpet. They are something you are probably going to have to live with.

It is not unusual to have to have wall to wall carpet restretched in a large room. Humidity will cause the carpet to "grow". This is to be expected and your installer should be willing to come back and restretch it. Make sure you wait a reasonable length of time so the carpet can have a chance to aclimatize itself to your environment.

Get down on your hands and knees and have a close look at the "holes" where the power stretcher grabbed the carpet. If the installer stretched the carpet too aggressively, the woven backing will be torn or severly distorted. If the carpet was stretched correctly, vacuuming the perimeter of the carpet should "erase" the "holes". If it was stretched too aggressively, and the "holes" can't be erased, the installer may have ruined your carpet.

Carpet has a "grain", just like any fabric. When seaming two pieces of carpet, the grain should run the same way or the seam will stand out like a sore thumb. While it is not unusual to change the grain direction in a closet doorway or other very small area where the change won't be noticeable, changing the direction in a long seam in the middle of the room is not correct. It can take an experienced eye to make the determination that the carpet was improperly laid according to grain direction. Even if it was laid correctly, you may see evidence of the seam for a while. Again give it some time and vacuum across the seam frequently. I shouldn't take long for the seam to disappear of it was laid correctly.

Another problem you could have with the seam would be if it seperated when the carpet was stretched. Again on your hands and knees, part the carpet along the seam. You will quickly find where the pieces are joined. The seam should be tight. If the seam came apart when the carpet was stretched, you will know it.

Read any warranty provided by the entity from whom you purchased the carpet. It may give you some idea of what you can expect in the way of satisfaction.

I know the producers and writers take great care to use the right medical terms and show the proper investigative processes both in the lab and out in the field. And they use medical advisors.

But just how realistic is it all?

I spent enough time around crime labs and at on-site crime scenes to know that something is very wrong with the portrayal of 鈥榬eality鈥?crime shows. Too many of the crime scene investigators are much too young and much too physically attractive to reflect reality. And the lab technicians are equally too young and too attractive.

Where were all these babes and hunks when I was in that line of work?

What I saw was a lot of balding, middle aged men and frumpy, equally middle aged, women in the labs. As to crime scene investigators these detectives earn that position through rank and seniority and it would be extremely rare to find a younger investigator on a crime scene team in a large city.

not very. Lol for one thing all these girls walking around in heels and skirts wouldn't happen. You walk into a crime scene wearing hair nets and booties. Also the investigators dont do all the stuff they do on the show. they just bag and tag then do some lab work. they dont solve the entire crime right up to trial. Also they wouldn't go right in and just start looking around. As soon as you get to the crime scene you have your name and title written down and fill out a ton more paperwork. I think the reason that most people involved in CSI stuff are a little older is that so many of them begin their careers as cops then work up to it.

haha, don't look for realism on tv. No, CSI and L%26amp;O and the rest aren't close to reality at all. It takes months to get all those lab tests back and people in the lab rarely if ever go to the scene of a crime, etc. But it wouldn't be good tv if people had to wait 6 months to find out what happened in the first episode's crimes.
CSI is not a reallity crime show. All the equipment %26amp; techniques they use are real, But the stories are total fiction. The Spike TV show Murder is a reality crime show. The two teams of three have 48 hours to collect %26amp; process the evidence, hear the coroner's report %26amp; ask questions, view the actual interrogation recordings, develop a theory %26amp; evidence to back it up. The host of the show is a real homcide detective. It was on Saturday nights, but not anymore for some reason.

i just bought a Viewsonic vx2235wm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... and when i play videos(retail dvd's in my dvdrom, downloaded .avi's(xvid/divx), winamp shoutcast tv streaming) it is very blocky but when i play games the picture looks great.

any info explaining why the picture is blocky when playing movies/tv shows would be greatly appreciated. I am using the provided DVI cable it came with. would i get a better picture with a dvi-d cable over the monitors provided dvi cable?

(i do have the latest video drivers and latest k-lite codec pack)

TV and DVDs run at 480 lines. So a widescreen DVD is a resolution of 853 by 480.

So you have about 2X the resolution of the highest quality a DVD can run at. Compression too can make the video look blocky as it reduces the colour depth.

Downloaded videos are even worse, as they reduce the resolution and increase the compression to decrease the amount of storage and bandwidth needed.

I do not think that you have a monitor problem. I think that your shiny new high resolution monitor is showing you how poor your video quality is.

If you want to test it, go to Yahoo Movies and download some of the 1080 or 720 HD trailers, an see what they look like.

The problem is that TVs are low quality displays: they are only about 320x240. You are displaying these low TV-quality DVDs and downloads on a high quality display, that is capable of 1280x768, or better! The high quality display makes visible the low quality of those videos. If you had videos and DVDs that were meant for HD-TV, there would not be any blockiness.

Transfer Tivo movies/shows to computer?

I just downloaded Tivo Desktop and I was wondering, is that the same thing as TivoToGo? Also, now that I have Tivo Desktop, how do I get movies and shows from the Tivo to my computer? I can get music and pictures from my computer to tivo, but I can't get anything from the tivo. Please help!

I'm not sure if it's the same on a Mac as a PC, but if it is, here we go:

First, you need to have your Tivo hooked up to your home wireless network.

Open Tivo Desktop and there's a button called "Pick recordings to transfer." It should bring up a list of recordings on your Tivo box. Pick the ones you want to move to your computer, then hit "start transfer". It will move the recordings to your computer, but you can only view them on your computer if you have a DVD burner. Hope that works for you!

No. The CW is up for the same Emmys as the other television stations. It only got one nomination for Smallville in a technical category (outstanding sound editing for a series).

It seems that the CW suffers from the same lack of respect that the WB got. Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars so deserved to be nominated, but never were. People tend to see it as a teen network and not on par with the heavy hitters, especially with the cable networks like FX and HBO.

Can anyone tell me why ABC is screwing up all of my shows. Why do they start showing repeats in the middle of the season? For the past three weeks every episode of Greys Anatomy, Desperite Houswifes, and Ugly Betty has been a rerun! And dont even get me started on Lost! In the middle of the season they competely end it until next year. How the hell can you keep up with a story line when they keep mixing you up. Can anyone tell me why they do this crap?

Normal seasons for tv series have 22 episodes. They have 52 weeks to air 22 episodes. Since most people watch less tv in the summer, they don't air new episodes for most series from June to September. Then, in the Holidays, they take another hiatus as people watch again less tv due to family gatherings, etc.

Not airing new episodes during the holidays has been done for years. It's nothing new. Actually, seeing new episodes IS out of the ordinary (like THE OC having a new episode on December 21).

Because some people have lives that don't revolve around the tv schedule. I personally do not. I've been pretty upset the past few weeks too. I guess since they think people have better things to do around the holiday season, they won't be home watching tv, so they show re-runs.

When it comes to TV garbage begets garbage. What we see now is a reflection of what we watched before and made successful. There is a lot of talk about the liberals in Hollywood. The actors may be mostly liberal but the producers are very conservative, at least fiscally. They want to put their money into the kind of shows they have seen work in the past.

No Original thinking. So the only option the networks have is to write the same plots with over the top action, drugs, sex and violence. This is supposed to make up for the unoriginal writing.
When I was little we had 4 networks to watch. ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS there was little choice but very high quality. In the late 70's and into the 80's we got more choices and all seemed pretty good. Then in the 90's the networks just lowered their standards for programing. Now they will pretty much throw anything on the air. Lots of choices but poor quality. :-(

Ok a bit confusing but Deal or No Deal record three shows per day and is on seasonal ie for a three month period then a break of a couple of months.

Countdown tends to do the same as above .
Both record roughly 5-6 shows each day. They each do a 6 month run, after which Countdown does the quarter finals, semi finals, then the final, before starting again a couple of weeks later.

Computer boots... but shows nothing. What do I check?!?

My roomie wanted to buy a new computer, so I went with him to buy one. After much deliberation, we decided to build one of our own.

I have built three machines and have successfully booted them all, and they've all lived happy and productive lives. Which is why this problem burns my cookies.

I got everything inside (Installed Motherboard, installed Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo), installed RAM sticks (2, in a pair, for total of 2GB, both in the "blue" slots, as per the manual), plugged up all the buttons and such, installed the video card (A Diamond ATI Pci-Express x16 card), added the hard drive and the dvd burner (serial ATA, as per manuals). Closed the sucker up and booted it. It came up, ran for a few seconds, went down. Came back up and continued running. However, no video ever appeared, neither on either of the two VGA monitors I hooked up, nor via the HDMI + DVI cable I hooked up. It comes up and stays up. It never beeps. And it never shows video. What to do next?

Sounds to me like you have a bad video card. From what you posted it seems like you checked everything. Do you have another video card (maybe one from working system) that you can swap it with. The idea is to use systematic troubleshooting. Replace one component at a time until you figure out what the problem is. However, if you are getting no video it has to be one of 3 components, the video card, the processor or the memory. The rest of the stuff wouldn't cause this problem... also I doubt you actually need a keyboard as most new motherboards don't require them to boot. Hope this helps and good luck.

P.S. Two other thoughts... 1) it could be the power supply not supplying enough power to all the components, or 2) it could be a heat issue with the processor (did you use thermal paste? and did you make sure the fan is blowing the right direction on the heat sink?)

I absolutely agree. The ones that aren't "Mmmmm... Ohmmmm.." use such tired adjectives to describe the food that they might as well be eating sand. "Now we add some beautiful radishes to our beautiful stew." Their radish-looking husband must be goregous.

If it worked properly at first, and it is locked in correctly it may have been handled too much and is soiled. Remove the cartridge and clean the contacts in the printer socket and the cartridge itself with rubbing alcohol. CAreful not to leave bits of paper or rag behind. Inspect areas with bright light and magnifying glass and remove any debris.

It could also use a reinstall of software.

If it isn't available, quite often deleting the software, shutting off the computer with the printer turned on, wait 5 minutes and turn the computer back on. It should discover the printer and reinstall appropriate software for it.

Not anymore. I read that he was pitching the idea for another season of "Flavor of Love" to VH1, but he wanted too much money, so they went with "I love New York". When that show became a hit, they were no longer interested in Flav. Now they have season 2 of "New YorK" and Brett Michaels has taken over the "Flavor of Love" concept.

I would not participate in any wild jungle reality or daring expedition. I like to know my food is what I have cooked or is safe to eat.

I would not enter a talent show where the public voted for there favourites. The general public are not skilled enough to know what is talent?, who is gifted?. They vote according to likes which can be fickle and at best mediocre. The best artists don't go in for it, they'd rather take 'the long and winding road'.

I do actually feel sorry for some of the competitors as they are being taken the loan of. They do not get a fair return on there time when those who claim to be mentors can not perform yet will earn thousands and millions for the companies they represent.

The only good things reality TV achieves is rating figures to keep the TV companies happy, a marketing package which comes courtesy of the programme which no artist will actually get anywhere, not even if they reached the top of there tree, the package is priceless. Keeps people in jobs within an industry which has been floundering for the last 20 years, since rap and hip hop.Wealth will trickle down. Can revive floundering careers of ageing personalities.

I've watched way too many shows not to notice that. The problem is, only anime shows have five fingers. And even some of those characters are four-fingered! Ugh, this is so confusing!

I remember reading an article about Walt Disney. When asked why Mickey Mouse only had three fingers (and a thumb), he replied, "Well, it's easier to draw three fingers than it is to draw four!"

Seriously, it's a timesaver. Back when animation was individual hand-drawn cels, anything that could simplify things might be used. The effect of fingers is still there, and the slight surrealism of only three fingers adds to the comedic and whimsical effect.

Because 5 just looks like too many when you draw them, especially when they're moving around.
I think it's easier to make it look proportionate when you have exaggerated drawings if there's only four fingers.
I think it's just because it would be "too complicated" and too difficult for the animators to draw their figures with 5 fingers, so they reduce them to four, or three, or two, or none at all (just stumps for hands) or maybe even no hands at all. That just shows that anime is better because the animators aren't lazy ^_^
It's very hard to make 5 fingers look proportionate in cartoons when they have to draw a billion pages to finish one simple cartoon. It's easier to just draw 4 fingers.
in the case of the simpsons, they live near the nuclear plant that we know is leaking stuff into the water cuz homer is the safety inspector.
because with the amout of drawing they do, they figure it's cheaper to use that as a short cut. remember, some artists get paid by the scene, episode,issue and not by the specifics (that's why Marvel Comics developed the "No Prize" .. so people would catch things like that).

The nice part is having your ticket in hand and not having to wait in line at the box office. Also, you can get a better seat if you book in advance and , also, not run the risk of a sellout.

I purchased my Blue Man tics in advance and I'm glad I did. No savings but I got killer seats.

Use the two links in the post above mine. They give out half price tickets to shows the day of the show....it's silly to pay full price when you can get that there. You have to buy them the morning of the show though.

Or there are free coupon books ALL OVER the strip and in all the hotels. Tons of coupon books and they all have "buy 1 ticket, get one free" or a certain amount off ticket shows.

I've never paid full price for a ticket to a Vegas show and I've seen alot of them. Wait until you get there and find a coupon or use the half price booth :)

Try www.vegas.com - it's thru USAirways. They're not always cheaper, but some things are. (However, the HOT shows like Blue Man and most of the Cirque shows, and Jersey Boys are not THAT discounted.)

The other thing to consider is looking on the website to the hotel directly and seeing if there's a Group Reservations number to call. They might be able to help you out as well.

I don't know any good shows, except you could probably find typical American shows dubbed in German online because they dub everything (Lost, Grey's Anatomy, etc)

Films: Goodbye Lenin, Barfuss, FC Venus, Run Lola Run, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Joyeux No?l, Gegen die Wand

These are the only ones I can think of now that I have seen. If you are in the US, I know they usually have a foreign section at the video store. Some that I listed, you might have to order online, because I don't know if they are available here.

When I see Big Brother, Real world, Hell's Kitchen, and all the shows like them, the contestants always are smoking in their time off. Most of the smokers do not "look" like they smoke normally. Do the shows provide free ciggs? If so, is this a good practice?

I believe they buy/ there own ciggs. The alcohol is provided esp Real World b/c the more drunk they get the better the show gets.

They have to bring their own... at least I know on BB they do.

Also...last season when Jen broke and trashed all of Evil Dick's cigs... I believe it to be true that Big Brother replaced them for him due to her actions.
I only know about BB and you have to bring in your own cigarettes.

It does seem like a lot of smokers on the shows though. I don't personally care. Smoke if you want to. I have noticed that a lot of the guys smoke this season on BB. A few do look a little forced. Maybe they are trying to fit it????

The Yahoo mail count has been out of whack for months. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and you never know which you are going to run into. If you use Internet Explorer, there is a button next to the Home button called Refresh. Click on that several times, and the wrong count will go away.

System properties panel shows only 800 mhz of processing speed?

i have an AMD Turion 64 x 2 processor, which states 1600mhz, but when i go into my computer properties it only shows 800mhz, does this mean only 1 processor is being used?

Your computer manufacturer might have totaled the processor speed up with both cores, thus each is 800 MHz, 800 x 2 = 1,600. Windows shows only one core speed, so it might say just 800 MHz, or 800 MHz x2, or 1.6 GHz.

That's a tough one...I would say you haven't. There are a lot of open circles in the past few days - are those temps not reliable? Why is your chart not set on advanced? FF is pretty good at detecting the O.

That's a toughie! With your cervical mucus changes, it looks like you have. Have you been to ovusoft.com? Those girls really helped me read a lot of my charts when I first started charting.
Based on your whole chart I would agree with fertility friend and say ovulation occurred on cd17. Good luck!
You didn't ovulate day 17- you need at least 3 confirmed raised temps and you don't have it at that point. *IF* you ovulated, I would say it would have been 19; however, you have a lot of open circles (which means we can't trust the temp) and your other signs (CM; cervical position) don't match up. Also, you had 2 temps in a row dip below the coverline and it hasn't recovered all that well. If I had to make a guess, I would say that your body tried to ovulate around day 17-19, but that its been delayed for some reason. So far, I think this chart is annovulatory.

It's OK, though. Lot's of things could be delaying your ovulation (stress, travel, illness, not sleeping well, etc) and it's thought that ALL women experience the occassional annovulatory cycle. Your body will continute to try to ovulate, so keep watching for the signs. You will also have a longer than usual cycle (unless longer or irregular cycles are usual for you).

Unlike Americans we do not feel the need to dub foreign English language shows in order to understand them (as what happened with Mad Max: Road Warrior). US TV shows are shown the same way as they appear in the US. There may be editing for censorship reasons (very rare these days) but otherwise they remain unchanged.

Lately Australian TV channels have taken to showing popular US shows within 24 hours of going to air in the US. This is probably due to internet piracy and the fast distribution of legal DVDs.

Australians are quite accustomed to hearing foreign accents. Most of the world's cultures are represented here locally anyhow. It nothing new to us.

Whe american shows get broadcast anywhere that speaks english we unfortunatley have to put up with your annoying american accents :P hehe, that includes Australia. Why would we dub it with an aussie accent? It would cost too much and we couldn't get it aired the same time as in America.

American shows come equipped with American Accents. We get awesome shows like Smallville out here and they have the actors natural voice. And you would be surprised at the number of US shows that air here like: Grey's Anatomy, Oprah, Law %26amp; Order, CSI, a bunch of MTV garbage, etc.

So, if you are planning on coming over and feel a little home sick, you can just turn on the tele and look at one of the evening shows and you will feel right at home... at least until a commercial break.
The American shows are in the original American accents (which we make fun of, lol). The Simpsons is in French in France because they're a primarily French-speaking country. We speak English in Australia, so there is no need to change the voices.

Think of other 'dubbed' shows, like the TV show Iron Chef (great show if you ever get a chance) the dubbed-over they do on the Chinese(japanese?) voices crack you up!!!
American TV shows are not redubbed for Australian TV. That means that most characters have American accents, except for characters who are supposed to be Australian. They tend to have either English or South African accents.
What I find interesting is that many English documentaries are dubbed with American accents for broadcast in the US. David Attenborough's documentaries have narration in American accents, and the content is significantly dumbed down.

FAVORITES ON THE FOOD NETWORK:

Good Eats with Alton Brown (highly informative, intelligent references, and instructional especially to a food novice like me)

Iron Chef (I like the old Japanese ones better and wish they would bring them back into the late night schedule or at least on the weekends)

Emeril Live ( just a good persona and a good, creative chef)

Gida de Laurentis (she cooks Italian cusine and she's got an awesome body and face and likes to flaunt her goods Yeah, I know, I'm male pig for that but it's true.)

FOOD NETWORK SHOWS I DISLIKE OR FIND MEDIOCRE:

Just about everything else on the schedule. Unwrapped with Marc Summers can be informative and interesting at times but is usually too boring at times.

I dislike Emeril (I'm not sure what it is, but there's just something about him I don't like), Semi-homemeade with Sandra Lee, Barefoot Contessa. All the other shows are just okay.

I agree about Good Eats, Iron Chef, and Emeril Live. They are not only entertaining, but expose me to a lot of different foods and cooking techniques.

I don't dig Giada de Laurentiis as much, I don't like the way she talks, I always feel like a little kid sitting in a classroom listening to a teacher when I watch her. I prefer Rachel Ray so much more.

I don't get to watch the other shows too often.
Oh I disagree all the way around, I don't like the Iron Chef at all. Emeril Live is really bad because he is so into himself -- wish someone would BAM him. Gida de Laurentis is a legalized prostitution and shouold Gida job doing something else. The only ones I agree on are Good Eats and Unwrapped. I like Paul Dean and also Rachel Ray (but only in small doses for both of them)

When I lived in the US I watched it all the time and made so many of the different recipes that I ended up gaining almost 80 pounds. I love Food Network! Even now that I live overseas, I go on line to find recipes from Food Network.
I like most of the shows, particularly Iron Chef and good eats, but I dislike Gida de Laurentis for the reasons you like her. She's pretty - but so what? I never watch the show all the way through and nothing makes me want to cook any of her recipes. She's just pretty, not that interesting as a show or a cook. Emeril can get on my nerves at times, but he makes decent food. I really don't like that semi-homemade show - everything she makes looks awful, made of prepackaged foods that are bad for you - why bother?

it depends on where you're watching them. not on the anime that you watch. btw, manga is a comic book. it's generally the same thing - japanese animation. but it's a different media. just saying ^^

if you're looking for site to watch anime - i suggest using and downloading Veoh. you can download videos to your pc and the people on there usually put up every episode.

since you're into avatar and mew mew power, i recommend Pita Ten, Kamichama Karin, or anything by Koge Donbo. (i myself don't watch them - but my 12 year old sister's pretty into this stuff.) These have a plot and they're pretty entertaining.

kamichama karin's a pretty recent anime and it doesn't have all the episodes made yet. however the manga series is finished if you'd rather get into that.

if you want a laid back kinda anime - Azumanga Daioh is a series of random stories about the characters and such. it's pretty cute and a lot of people are into it.

i forget the authors name but she's also done a manga called Yotsuba - it's really cute and sometimes the jokes are really subtle.

this anime is equally funny and is about a poor girl named haruhi who goes to a prestigious high school (that's for rich kids). she stumbles across the host club of the school. she meets tamaki (the "prince"), the twins, hikaru and kaoru (devil types), hunny, (lolia shota type, but i'm not sure how to spell it...), kyoya (cool type but also the "shadow king"), and takashi (wild type). haruhi breaks a vase so she has to pay for it (it's 8 million yen) by dressing as a guy to be a host. i love this one episode where the guys dress up as girls and at the end haruhi is laughing and the guys are being stupid and... well you'll see :D more info on wikipedia

the story of saiunkoku

this anime is sort of historical but actiony and funny and has romance. there's this girl named shurrei who is asked to be the emperors wife for a while to help him not be lazy and stuff. and it's only for a couple of episodes then the real fun stuff begins. sorry for not typing everything down but it's just that there is a lot! more on wikipedia!

fruits basket is really funny! it's awesome! in the beginning, a girl named tohru, who recently had her mother pass away, meets her school's "prince" they bump into each other and in the end lives with him and another guy named kyo. the "prince" or yuki and kyo fight all the time, it's hilarious. the info is in wikipedia

the prince of tennis is also funny (do you see a pattern here? where all these anime have some comedy in it?) a boy named ryoma echizen, a tennis prodigy, attends seishun academy. the friends that he makes are funny and it's all bout tennis. it's exciting and fun. did i mention funny? i love it when Inui makes his "Inui juice" which is disgusting and makes everyone want to throw up, except fuji. more info on wikipedia (are you also sensing that most of these anime is also on wikipedia?)

pretear is good too! it's about a girl named himeno who is trying to have a good life after her father remarried and her mother passed away. she meets hayate and meets the leafe knights. once again, info on wikipedia! very funny!
